Church Staff and SRO

Pastor Laura Helm is the Interim Pastor for the Wabash Presbyterian Church. She has both bachelor's and masters degrees in Elementary Education from Ball State University, and taught in Wayne Township in Indianapolis for 16 years. Laura got a masters of divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School, and served in United Methodist churches around Indiana. She was the Assistant Director for the Access Youth Center for 12 years, and the Director of the Access Learning Academy for 7 years.

Laura is the proud human mom of Clementine, the goldendoodle, and enjoys taking walks with her and reading in her free time.

Sandy Johnson is the Office Manager for the Wabash Presbyterian Church, with over 7 years of church office experience. Sandy holds a bachelor of applied arts degree in Interpersonal and Public Communication with a minor in Journalism from Central Michigan University. She is originally from Michigan and moved to Wabash at the end of 2004. 

Sandy enjoys taking pictures, organizing, playing tennis, growing in her faith, spending time with her family and friends, and walks with her dog, Gigi. 

Sam has been with the Wabash Police Department since 1996. He obtained his School Resource Officer certification through NASRO in 2013 and has served Wabash City Schools since. While still serving the City of Wabash as a Police Officer, Wabash City Schools named him Director of Safety in 2019. Sam received his Instructor certification through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. He is a certified instructor for the American Heart Association, Stop the Bleed, and Policing the Teen Brain. He is a member of NASRO, and served as a Region Rep before joining the INSROA Executive Board as Secretary.

Sam and his wife Shelley have been married since 1998 and have 5 children.
