Summer Forest School
Ages 3-6 and 6-12
We are open this June!
Summer Forest School is an immersive experience in the beautiful Asherwood Nature Preserve (an ACRES property). Forest School students learn to identify plants, bird calls, and animal tracks, while also gaining the coordination and self-assuredness that comes with climbing and hiking outdoors. The learning opportunities are limitless!
Each day, there will be an activity or lesson related to our weekly theme, followed by a snack, read aloud, and exploration time for each age group. Exploration can include unstructured play at our base camp, hikes around the forest and/or to the creek, and critter catching (and releasing) in the meadow.
Weekly themes are as follows*:
Week 1: Water and Its Cycles/Systems
Week 2: All about Insects and Their Role
Week 3: Summer Solstice and Shadows
Week 4: Conservation, Recycling, and Pollution Prevention
*Themes are subject to change/evolve until May, when plans are solidified. Activity length will be based on the interests of the children in each group!
